NAPP Frequently Asked Questions
Is the NAPP a government agency?
The NAPP is not a government agency, it is a private trade group that seeks to ensure that online pet pharmacies are adhering to the guidelines and laws set forth by government agencies such as the EPA, FDA, and state boards of pharmacies.
What is the benefit of membership?
By becoming a member of the NAPP, you let your customers know that your pharmacy adheres to all state and federal pharmacy laws and meets the stringent requirements of membership.
How often are pharmacies inspected?
Pharmacies are required to renew their credentials and provide proof of licensure on a yearly basis, but participating pharmacies may be inspected at any time at the discretion of the NAPP. Doing so ensures total compliance.
What happens if my pharmacy is found to be non-compliant?
All instances of non-compliance are first met with a warning, allowing 30 days for the pharmacy to rectify any violations. If 30 days pass and a violation has still not been rectified, the pharmacy’s NAPP membership is suspended until such time that the violation is rectified.
Can any pharmacy be a member?
Any US based pharmacy selling only medications approved for sale in the United States by the EPA and FDA, and holding pharmacy licenses in all 50 states will be considered for membership. For a full list of membership requirements, click here.
